CINCINNATI — Gartner recently released a new market guide for Managed Detection and Response “MDR” services. “MDR services are an emerging group of security monitoring providers with approaches that do not fit the traditional managed service model.” In this report, Gartner named Morphick as a representative vendor in this space.

Gartner recommends IT security leaders: “Use MDR services to augment existing security monitoring capabilities to address gaps in advanced threat detection and incident response before investing in more security monitoring tools (e.g., security information and event management [SIEM], network, and host-threat detection), and associated staff and expertise.”

Written by senior Gartner security analysts Toby Bussa, Craig Lawson and Kelly M. Kavanagh, the report is targeted to security and risk leaders evaluating options for threat detection and incident response services.

“These services,” Gartner states, “aim to remove the burden from clients of having to figure out ‘what method or device to use’ for a security monitoring and response capability. MDR services focus on specific outcomes — threat detection, with 24/7 monitoring and alerting, and remote incident investigation and response included in the end-to-end service.”
